About Alicia Cross
Over 20 years ago I walked into my first gym. I had no idea what I was doing! Like many women, I gravitated to group fitness. I loved the classes! I took so many classes that the manager asked me to start teaching. I discovered my passion and it was fitness. Over the next 12 years I taught everything from Cardio Kickboxing and Bootcamp to Yoga and Pilates. I loved teaching because I loved my students. I loved giving them a great workout or an amazing yoga practice.
As I learned more about exercise and yoga, I understood that not every workout or every yoga pose was right for everyone. I offered modifications in class. But I really wanted to help people with past injuries, chronic issues, or just their aches and pains of the day. I wanted to take a more personalized approach. I also needed to give them the accountability that drop-in classes lacked.
In 2011 I became a personal trainer. I began working one-to-one with a diverse group of clients in a gym setting: teenage athletes looking for a competitive edge, brides-to-be and new moms getting into better shape, triathletes looking to prevent injury, and empty nesters and retirees ready to focus on their own health.
I saw many clients struggle to reach their weight loss goals, despite showing up week after week and working hard. I knew I needed to educate and empower clients to make nutrition and lifestyle changes outside of the gym so they could reach their goals.
In 2014, I started my own business so I could offer this holistic approach to help clients meet their goals in and out of the gym. But something was missing. The one-to-one sessions were missing the energy and the connection of the classes I had taught for so many years. The solution was Semi-Private Training! I brought together small groups of people with similar goals and issues. Since the majority of my clients are women ages 55-75, they already had a lot in common!
In 2020, the whole thing went virtual and my clients are loving it! They get to “see” their fitness friends, stay on their exercise routine safely from home, and continue to receive inspiration, support, and encouragement from their favorite coach, teacher, and trainer!
