5 Gluten-Free and Healthy Restaurants in Woodbridge, VA
When I’m heading out to eat near Fusion Sports Performance where offer in-person semi-private training, I have my list of pre-approved gluten-free and healthy restaurants in Woodbridge. I know I seem difficult, but dinner out with me can be a tricky: I have Celiac’s Disease (so I have to eat gluten-free) and I don’t eat meat, eggs, or dairy. I was vegan for a bit but added fish back into my diet a few years ago for the protein and omega 3 fatty acids and to have more choices when eating out. And honestly, sushi was the only food I missed while vegan. Avocado and cucumber rolls never quite satisfied my craving!
If you like to eat healthy while still enjoying a meal out or takeout you can feel good about, I’ve got some suggestions for you. Check out my five favorite gluten-free and healthy restaurants in Woodbridge, Virginia.
1. Dok Khao Thai Eatery
This is hands down the best Thai food in Virginia! The menu specifies which dishes are gluten free and they have tofu. My standby is Panang Curry with tofu, extra broccoli, and don’t forget the sticky rice!
2. Sake Japanese Steakhouse
We discovered this restaurant has half-priced sushi specials every day! They also have a hibachi grill and a full menu of entrees. This is one of those places everyone will find something. And yes, they have gluten-free soy sauce!
3. Taste of Tandor
Indian food is one of the safest cuisines when it comes to eating gluten-free. The only things not gluten-free are the naan (bread) and a few appetizers. The menu doesn’t specify, but the staff can let you know what to avoid. The menu has separate vegetarian (and vegan) and seafood sections to satisfy everyone.
4. Poke Mian
If you like sushi, you’ll love a poke bowl! You can choose a bowl or build your own with a base, protein, toppings, and sauce. Ordering online is super easy because gluten-free items are labeled on their website. Take my advice and order a double protein protein bowl!
5. Mezeh Mediterranean Grill
Mezah has two locations, one in Potomac Mills and one in Lake Ridge. I love Mezeh, but they could do better by labeling their gluten-free items in-store and online for easier ordering. You’ll have to check the allergen list online before ordering. For plant-based, they have delicious falafel and veggie kefta, but these are definitely not high in protein.
