DIY Skin Care Recipes
Check out these DIY recipes for Lip Balm, Toner, Deodorant, Foaming Face Wash, Shower Gel, Foaming Hand Soap, Toothpaste, Dry Shampoo, Rejuvenating Facial Serum, Salt Scrub, Baby Powder for Grown-Ups, Mouthwash, Aftershave for Men, and Beard Balm.
Lip Balm
2 tsp shea butter
¼ tsp coconut oil (food grade)
4 drops peppermint essential oil
Melt shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler or in glass bowl in microwave. Stir in essential oil and pour into 2 small jars.
Toner
1½ Tbsp alcohol-free witch hazel
1 Tbsp aloe vera
4 drops lavender essential oil
3 drops juniper berry essential oil
1 drop cypress essential oil
Add all ingredients to a 2oz glass fine mist spray bottle.
Deodorant
3 Tbsp coconut oil
3 T shea butter
5 Tbsp baking soda
5 Tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder
3 Tbsp Diatomaceous Earth
28 drops cedarwood essential oil
22 drops clary sage essential oil
22 drops lavender essential oil
16 drops patchouli essential oil
Melt coconut oil and shea butter in a double boiler or in a glass bowl in the microwave. Stir in baking soda, cornstarch (or arrowroot), D.E., and essential oils. It should be the consistency of frosting so you can use your fingers to apply it. Once it cools to room temperature, if it’s too runny, add more D.E., baking soda, and/or cornstarch (or arrowroot). If it’s too solid, add melted coconut oil. Keep it a mason jar and small jar for travel or gym bag.
Foaming Face Wash
¼ cup unscented castile soap
1 cup water
10 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil
Add all ingredients to Foaming Soap Pump. Add some to a Mini Foaming Soap Pump for your travel bag.
Shower Gel
½ cup unscented castile soap
¼ cup vegetable glycerin
10 drops ginger essential oil
7 drops orange essential oil
OR
6 drops bergamot essential oil
4 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops patchouli essential oil
OR
12-20 drops of any oils you like
Add all ingredients to a soap pump (not foaming) or travel container.
Foaming Hand Soap
¼ cup unscented castile soap
1 cup water
15 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil
5 drops melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil
Add all ingredients to a Foaming Soap Pump.
Toothpaste
7 Tbsp baking soda
½ cup coconut oil (food grade)
20-30 drops ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops
35 drops peppermint essential oil
Mix all ingredients in a mason jar or small jar for travel.
Dry Shampoo
½ cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder
2 Tbsp cacao powder (for dark hair)
10 drops lemon essential oil
8 drops rosemary essential oil
8 drops peppermint essential oil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and funnel into a spice jar.
Rejuvenating Facial Serum
1 Tbsp rosehip oil
1 Tbsp tamanu oil
1 drop geranium essential oil
2 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops frankincense essential oil
2 drops cypress essential oil
Add all ingredients to a glass dropper bottle.
Salt Scrub
½ cup fine Himalayan salt
1 Tbsp fractionated coconut oil
5 drops lavender essential oil
5 drops bergamot essential oil
3 drops peppermint essential oil
Mix all ingredients in a mason jar.
Baby Powder for Grown-Ups
½ cup cornstarch or arrowroot powder
6 drops lavender essential oil
4 drops ylang ylang essential oil
2 drops chamomile essential oil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and funnel into a spice jar.
Mouthwash
¾ cup water
¼ c vodka
20 drops spearmint essential oil
Add all ingredients to a mason jar.
Aftershave for Men
¼ cup alcohol-free witch hazel
½ Tbsp aloe vera
2 drops chamomile essential oil
6 drops lavender essential oil
2 drops sandalwood essential oil
4 drops clary sage essential oil
Add all ingredients to a glass bottle.
Beard Balm
½ tsp coconut oil
½ tsp beeswax
¼ tsp shea butter
2 drops bergamot essential oil
2 drops frankincense essential oil
2 drops melaleuca (tea tree) essential oil
3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
Melt coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter in a double boiler or in a glass bowl in the microwave. Stir in essential oils and pour into small jar.
